Vilnis has been teaching tautas dejas (Latvian folk dance) at Kursa since 2021. Having danced with Denveras Virpulītis since he was born, Vilnis has grown up dancing in, and being around, tautas dejas for literally his entire life. He has danced in many Latvian song and dance festivals as well as at local events in Colorado. Vilnis worked as a chaperone for Heritage Latvia for several summers, is on the board of the Latvian Cultural Center of Colorado, and is a member of the Latvian folk band "Denveras Jūrmalnieki'. During the rest of the year, he teaches 6th grade mathematics!
